Day 89 – 16th August – Litchfield National Park

When we crossed over to the Northern Territory we had to wind our clocks forward an hour and a half… so we are a bit out of whack.  Of course, we were up ‘later’ than usual so we didn’t get on the road till later than usual too.  We finally made it to our destination, the Litchfield National Park.  On some great advice from the Jagger family, who were here recently, we headed straight for the Buley Rockhole Campground... what a spot!  First of all, bush camping again… bliss!  Second, the campground is right next to the Buley Rockhole.  The waterhole is actually a series of about 8 or 9 little rock or plunge pools separated by small rapids and waterfalls.  It is an absolutely awesome spot…

We spent some time exploring all the pools before heading back to camp for a spot of bird watching… the guy camped next door to us is my new mate since he discovered our shared interest ;)  It has been a good couple of days here in the NT, we have managed to cross off four new birds on our ever-growing list, including a Pheasant Coucal and the most magnificent Forest Kingfisher…

We have been in the NT for 2 days and we are loving everything it has to offer so far…
