Day 81 – 8th August – El Questro

No rest for the wicked they say… we are booked in here at El Questro for four nights so we have had to jam a few things in each day to do and see as much as we can…  Today’s agenda?  You guessed it… another gorge… Moonshine Gorge started out as a hot, exposed hike over the saddle of a range.  Outside of the gorges and waterholes, this is what all the countryside looks like around here… it is so much drier than we ever expected…

Eventually you come to another outstanding waterhole nestled at the bottom of a cliff.  Time for a quick dip…

More hiking along a river bed until we popped out at another gorgeous swimming hole…

After lunch we negotiated some pretty steep hills to drive to a couple of lookouts.  The first one looks out over the Pentecost River.

At the second lookout we were looking down over the Station where the campground and facilities are.  If you were wondering about the dust up here… check this out.  That line of dust is coming from a single car travelling along the track…

Ever since Cape Leveque we have been carrying around this bottle of champagne.  It was a gift from Johan and Zandra who we managed to cross paths with up at Cygnet Bay.  Anyhow, Dave had been saving it for a special occasion… we thought our last night on the Gibb River Road was a worthy occasion.  We had become quite friendly with the neighbours camping next to us so we sat and shared our bottle of champers and swapped travel stories… it was a very enjoyable way to spend an evening…
