Day 76 – 3rd August – Ellenbrae Station

Another couple of hours driving today from Drysdale to Ellenbrae Station.  We passed the grader just before Ellenbrae.

When people swap travel stories about the Gibb, they always mention the scones at Ellenbrae Station…  I think the station has tried to make a name for themselves so people will stop in.  So even before we set up camp we piled into the homestead for some morning tea…

My view while I was enjoying my coffee and scones…

The area around the homestead was a beautiful oasis… Double-Barred and Crimson Finches everywhere… beautiful trees, green grass and no dust!

The campground was away from the homestead, so once again we were on the dust…  At the moment it feels like we are living, breathing and eating dust…

We spent the afternoon exploring the station.  We headed out to a small gorge that was fairly un-inspiring.  The water was not very enticing… we like to see the bottom, particularly when there are crocs around… Instead we came back to camp and had a quick dip in the river behind the camp.

We are still experiencing our lack-of-gas-crisis… so to preserve some of the small amount we have we decided to cook dinner on the campfire…
