What do you see?

Our weekend

1 sick boy (high temp, snotty nose, respiratory infection)
+ 1 sick girl (snotty nose, respiratory infection)
+ 1 sick daddy (most likely same respiratory infection)
+ rain all weekend

= NOT MUCH FUN!

On a positive note: I finally got around to pulling out Aiden's old Docker's jumper for Megan to wear (yes, I am fully aware that on recent form I shouldn't even be admitting to following the Dockers).

She's such a girl!

I can't believe how much of a girly girl Megan is already! She has always had a fetish for shoes, definitely likes her 'bling' and now her favourite toy of choice is a handbag!

It is amazing how fast she has cottoned on to the whole walking thing. It was only two weeks ago that I reported her first steps and now she is walking almost everywhere (and showing signs of being the long lost everready bunny that keeps going & going & going!)

Playground fun

We had some beautiful weather over the weekend so a trip to the playground was in order.

It's photos like this that make you realise how much Aiden is growing up. This particular spiral ladder has always been off limits to him because it is quite tricky and there is a HUGE gap between the ladder and the platform - so we were always too afraid to let him try it. This weekend, however, he jumped straight on... shimmied up the ladder and traversed the massive gap with no trouble at all... no doubt he'll find a way to jump from that height next...

A job well done

Over the weekend Dave finally managed to finish sorting out the carport/shed situation. He was so excited at the prospect of being able to park his car in the garage that he insisted I take some photos... and yes, he wanted a photo of him DRIVING the car into the newly empty space!

Since moving into the house this is the first time we have had both cars in the carport...

*** It melts your heart ***

How cute is this? Aiden giving Megan her birthday present complete with birthday kiss & cuddle...

Presents

Here are some photos of the "presents" part of the birthday celebration. Megan wasn't quite 100% sure of what was going on but Aiden was in seventh heaven...

A BIG thankyou to all the mums/kids from our mum's group for all the cool pressies you guys brought for her yesterday.

Aiden, Dave & I gave Megan her first bit of "bling" - a silver bangle.

Of course Aiden didn't miss out...

Nana bought Megan a couple of really cool books

And the winner is... if you've got young kiddies yourself you will know that amongst the big pile of stuff they are given there will be ONE toy/thing that catches their eye and that will be all they want to play with. The Hunter clan gave Megan a cute little dress that came with a white shirt for underneath. The dress was a pretty colour and had an eye-catching floral print on the inside but did this attract our little girl... NO! All she wanted was the plain white shirt... she played with it for quite some time...

Birthday cake (again)

Our little girl is 1!

Happy birthday to the sweetest girl...

Where has the past year gone? I just can't believe Megan is one already.

Of course, the birthday celebrations are to be extended over three days. First, we had mum's group here yesterday so I put together a little birthday cake so we could sing and all blow out the candles (takes a long time when there are a big group of kids all wanting their turn!).

Today (Megan's actual birthday) - this morning has started out as any other day... we were all up at the crack of dawn but had time for one quick present before Daddy went off to work. We have a nice little stash of gifts from the mum's group so when Daddy comes home this afternoon we will have a little present opening ceremony.

Love this photo but the camera chose to focus on something way off to the left of us... so much for expensive cameras - they should KNOW what we want it to focus on!

Tomorrow - we are having a little family morning tea so stay tuned I am sure I will be posting more photos along the way.

A love so sweet

The other photos

I just uploaded my photo for this week onto the One Word blog. This week's theme was COFFEE. I debated about which one of these 4 photos (+ the other one) to post. Lucky I don't have a fragile ego because when I asked Dave which one he liked best, he informed me he really didn't like any of them...

Scitech

Today's family outing was a trip to Scitech - a science adventure place for kids. We had never been before so didn't really know what to expect. Luckily, it turned out to be excellent fun for the kiddies - not once did I have to tell Aiden off for touching stuff while we were out! Although he was a bit young he had heaps of fun but I can't wait to take him again as he gets older.

Aiden playing with one of the displays
About 2m inside the front door was this orange plastic information disc on the floor. Megan took an instant shine to it and for the first half hour or so every time I put her on the ground she would make a direct beeline for it (no matter how far away we were). She even had her own little game where she would walk or crawl to the edge and put one hand/foot over then quickly pull it back in... very entertaining game for a 1 year old. The bonus for us today was all the open carpetted space - Megan did A LOT of walking and it is showing as she is getting steadier on her feet by the minute...
This is Dave riding a bicylce as fast as he can to make as many lights show up as possible... Megan clearly is underwhelmed by the whole thing
Megan was, however, very interested in this ball floating in the air. She would check it out every time we went past
I think both kiddies had fun but I know for sure that both were pretty tuckered out by the end... it was a peaceful trip home:

Birthday celebrations

Here are some photos from our little dinner party we had on Friday night to help Nana celebrate her birthday:

Grandad

Grandad comes over for a visit and a play every Thursday. This week we had just been to the library so there was a fresh stash of books which Aiden insisted Grandad read to him.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!

Today is Mum's birthday. This time last year I was on the brink of popping with Megan and so unfortunately my mind was far from Mum's 60th birthday... it was quite unfair really for such a significant event to go by so unnoticed. This year, however, we are making up for it with all the attention a birthday so duly deserves. This afternoon's activities include baking a cake and decorating a card especially for Nana who is coming over for a special dinner tonight.

So Mum (Nana) we hope you are having a great day and we love you lots...

Here is a sneak peek at a mini album I have made for her birthday present (here's hoping she doesn't look at my blog before she comes over this afternoon).
