From
Wittenoom we kept on our westerly direction until we hit Hamersley Gorge. Once again we were back in the Karijini
National Park. As you approach the area
you actually drive on a road blasted from the gorge. Obviously it is a big effort to do that, so
the road is only one lane wide for the length of the gorge. You have to radio your approach as you enter
and cross your fingers that you don’t meet a truck coming the other way…

The rock walls in this gorge are amazing. Apparently in the distant past our continent collided with another one. The forces were so great the rock buckled and shifted…

At the end of the day we crossed the road to a bush camp. We had the place to ourselves. Here’s the view from the camper…
