A mixed day...

...that's what we've had here. Firstly, on a positive note, Dave and I had a few hours of freedom. For his birthday Mum had given him a couple of movie tickets with the promise to babysit so we could actually use them. Today was the day we took her up on her offer. So we dumped the kids on Nana, headed to a nearby restaurant for a quick drink then headed off to the cinema to see this:
Yes - if you were wondering - I have always been a big X-Files fan (love anything sci-fi). The movie was great - they stayed true to the old style of X-Files without getting all fancy or anything. If you used to like the X-Files I'm tipping you'll enjoy the movie too.

So, after our nice little escape we came home to this:

That's Megan fast asleep (and snoring) in Nana's arms. The poor little thing was NOT well at all. She had been grumpy all day but I couldn't see any reason why she was in such a bad mood. Once we got home she continued to get worse and by dinner time she was just this floppy, listless, miserable little girl - but still without any other signs of illness. So I called Health Direct to get some medical advice and I think the nurse was stumped too. About twenty minutes later we were eating dinner when Mum (god bless her) mentioned mumps... and both Dave and I instantly went ch-ching! It turns out that Megan had her MMR (measles, mumps & rubella) immunistaions exactly 12 days ago and the textbook side effects are: 7-12 days after the needle you can get fever, rash & drowsiness. Unfortunately these side effects can last 2-3 days so we may be in for a quiet couple of days. So please send our little girl some healing thoughts...
