Time
to pack up and leave Newman… we drove about 70km west before stopping at a spot
called Wanna Munna. Wanna Munna is a
significant aboriginal site nestled in a rock pool. Everywhere you look there are aboriginal rock
carvings. It was a pretty spot, well
worth stopping for a look.
From Wanna Munna we skirted the eastern edge of Karijini
National Park to arrive at the Auski Roadhouse… our least desirable camp spot
of the trip so far. Picture a whole
bunch of caravans, campers and tents sardined into a small grassed area behind
the service station. Not only did we
have the pleasure of hearing the refrigerator generator and the water pumps
going all night, there was also the countless road trains either stopping at
the roadhouse or flying past… Needless to say we were packed up and gone super
early the next morning.
